Never Give Up – A Story by Fredrick Oloo

Chapter 1: A Father's Wisdom

My name is Fredrick Oloo. I worked very hard so that I could pass my exams. My father always wished me success and reminded me to keep our compound clean by never littering.

One evening, my father sat us down and gave us advice. He told us some important things to remember in life:

  1. Learn new things every day.
  2. Be creative.
  3. Avoid mistakes.
  4. Do the right thing at the right time.

Chapter 2: Learning Through Experience

My father also told us that when we face problems, we should try to solve them creatively. If the problem is too difficult, we should tell him, and he would help us learn how to solve it.

One day, he showed us a video. After watching, he asked my brother, then my sister, and finally me what I had learned. I said:

“We should have belief in what we are doing.”

He was happy with my answer. He also reminded us that if we don’t understand something in school, we should ask the teacher to explain or go home and do research.

Chapter 3: The Pawpaw Problem

Later, my father noticed that our farm didn’t have any pawpaw trees. So he told us to plant some.

We planted many, but the pawpaw were attacked by a disease. I told my father:

“The pawpaw are not doing well. They are sick.”

He said:

“If they don’t grow well in the ground, try planting them in sacks.”

Chapter 4: Trying Again

We got some pawpaw seeds and sacks. We planted them in the sacks and watered them every evening. After two weeks, the pawpaw were green and healthy!

I told my father:

“The pawpaw in the sacks are doing well. Their leaves are green.”

He told us to keep checking them every day.

Chapter 5: Never Give Up

After three more weeks, the pawpaw started to look unhealthy again. Their leaves turned yellow. I told my father:

“The pawpaw are sick again.”

But he said something I will never forget:

“We must plant pawpaw. Whatever happens, pawpaw must be planted. Never give up. That is why many people fail — they give up too soon.”

He added:

“If there is a problem, always look for me.”

✨ Moral of the Story:

  • Always try your best.
  • Don’t give up when things get hard.
  • Learn from your challenges.
  • Ask for help when you need it.
  • Be patient, and keep going.
